Day 28: May 6, 1991

Nashville, TN

Park # 27

What I Remember

Nashville was right on the cusp of a boom when we pulled into Herschel Greer Stadium on a Monday night…on the cusp but not there yet. The city would be home to an NFL football team, an NHL hockey team get a brand new Triple-A stadium and go through a big surge in popularity over the next 30 years but in 1991 the Nashville Sounds still felt more like a Double-A team than the Triple-A team they were.

The park was built into the side of a hill and the seating bowl was plenty large but there were a lot of empty seats to watch the hometown Sounds shutout rival Louisville 8-0. I did like it that the park had outfield bleachers, then a relative rarity in minor league ballparks.
