Day 50: May 28, 1991

Lakeland, FL

Park # 53

What I Remember

I remember another act of amazing generosity as the GM of the Lakeland Tigers took up a collection for us at the program stand over the course of a doubleheader and raised $91 to help us continue the trip. See this post from two days ago for the back story.

I also remember the team loading us down with everything Tigers…seat cushions, umbrellas, even an am radio that looked like a baseball…all in Tiger shades of orange and blue, it was very nice of them.

The park, like many in the FSL was largely empty so the orange seats really popped, it is a very nice looking ballpark and the Detroit Tigers have signed a long term contract to continue coming to Joker Marchant each spring.

The Trip

Lakeland was our last stop in the Florida State League and as far south as we would go for the remainder of the trip, the next day we began the journey north.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend!
