What I Remember
A cow milking contest. I have not seen many of these in my life but this is the only one I have seen at a baseball park. There was a cow milking contest between games of a doubleheader on this Friday evening and the players for both teams were the contestants. Fittingly, perhaps, or perhaps not, the Durham Bulls were the visiting team and we caught lots of the action on video. I have embedded the video I produced on this date last summer below.
Also of note, we met Doug Melvin, the Director of Player Personnel for the Baltimore Orioles, that night. Melvin was in town checking out his prospects and after finding out what we were doing he took us up to the owner’s box in Baltimore the next night. I have been a fan of the Baltimore Orioles since…umm…forever and it was a thrill to meet the head of their minor league operations. Unfortunately while the Baby Birds won out in the Cow Milking Contest they lost both ends of the doubleheader to the Bulls.

Somehow we managed to leave Frederick without a program or scorecard but we did get Keys hats!
