Day 88: July 5, 1991

New Britain, CT

Park # 97

What I Remember

I remember being inducted into the Beehive Field Hall of Fame and somewhere I have the certificate to prove it. I seem to recall that we were made honorary members, although it would seem that all Hall of Fame membership is honorary. Regardless, for our time at this nice little park outside Hartford we walked among Red Sox legends.

It was a rainy evening but after our pre-game induction on the field they got the game in and my friend Tom Odjakjian, who was working at ESPN at the time and was instrumental in making our trip happen, came out to watch with us.

For most of the last 30 years every New England state had a team in minor league baseball but in 1991 there were just three and this was the first of three straight nights in our home area. It was the beginning of an all-too-short stretch among friends and family.
