This line is a common refrain in the Craib household each winter when I take pictures of random early season college basketball matchups being played in obscure conferences and televised on ESPN+. There are, in fact, usually many good seats still available.
It is also a great name for a podcast and I was fortunate enough to be a guest on Tim Hanlon’s Good Seats Still Available program this week. I said to Tim afterward, that like many people I don’t really like to hear myself interviewed, but I found our conversation very engaging. If you haven’t read In League With America yet because you umm, don’t like to read, you might enjoy this as an alternative. It might even make you want to read the book.
In other news from the Camp Craib headquarters of In League With America, we’re planning travel again – a lot of it. I am, in fact, hoping to get to a baseball game in all 50 states and most of the Canadian provinces by the end of 2023. The first of these will be next month at the oldest stadium in the United States, timeless and amazing Rickwood Field in Birmingham where Alistair and I will take in a Saturday matinee between Miles College and Albany (GA) State.
Later in the summer, the plan is for all three Craibs to attend the Midnight Sun Classic in Fairbanks, Alaska on the night of the summer solstice. The game starts at 10 p.m. local time and unless it’s a pitcher’s duel will run past Midnight in natural daylight.
More details on the In League With America tour schedule coming next week.
